Welcome to the 2016 MidSchoolMath National Conference!

Session scheduling is limited to registered attendees - all attendees should receive schedule access via email by Jan. 4 or within two business days of registering. Click on the "More Information" link for detailed directions on accessing SCHED and signing up for concurrent sessions.

Programming begins each morning at 8:15 am sharp, ending at 4:30 pm on Friday, followed by a social hour from 5:00 - 6:30 pm; and ends at 4:15 pm on Saturday.

Limited Capacity filling up

High altitude ballooning is an involved process that incorporates a range of math standards that can be expanded with the needs of the teacher and student. Younger students might appreciate the simple concept of buoyancy while older students might appreciate the application of the ideal gas law.

I became fascinated with high altitude ballooning after seeing a youtube video a few years ago, and conducted my own launch last May. In this session, I'll guide you through the process of a high altitude balloon launch and how the steps involved bridge all areas of math and science.
