This session will present a case study of how one alegebra teacher chose to provide mindset interventions that made a substantial impact on students willingness' to engage in learning, as well as their self-efficacy. This teacher provided opportunities for her students to learn how to be learners, provide meaningful feedback to each other and to build a community where deep mathematical learning took place.

In light of Dr. Boaler's and Dr. Dweck's growing body of research around mindset and how it affects student efficacy in mathematics, this case study aligns with the research findings on mindset interventions. Mindset interventions can pay big dividends in helping students become the proficient mathematicians described in the CCSS Mathematical Practices.

You'll see see journal and video data that shows the depth of these interventions, have discussion about research on mindset and mindset interventions, and leave the session with goals for providing mindset interventions in your classroom.
