Adding this to your schedule will put you on the waitlist.

Teachers’ understanding of mathematics content is a crticial precursor to effective instruction that focuses on conceptual understanding, while understanding of language is critical for student access.

In this session, you'll become more aware of the language needs of all students and will consider these language needs in designing instruction to ensure success. You'll also improve your conceptual understanding of ratios and proportional reasoning, so that you are better able to design effective teaching practices that support students’ success and foster a growth mindset classroom.

Through small group exercises and modeling, you'll improve your conceptual understanding of ratios and proportional reasoning, getting away from "looking" for a formula. Meanwhile, throughout the session, we'll consider how to provide English learners access to the academic content by becoming more aware of the languages issues that face students.
